Enhanced Twitter brand pages would be 'a good thing'

The introduction of Twitter brand pages would be a good thing for brands and customers, one expert has stated.

A key element of the pages would be the capability to promote a tweet, which will allow brands to communicate with new followers without resorting to spamming them, a specialist at Alchemy Worx has noted.

Riaz Kanani, marketing director at Alchemy Worx, said: "The state of play today - before the new brand pages - is that every company is the same as a user, which let's face it, is not really realistic. Brands themselves want to be able to communicate differently to other users."

However, Mr Kanani cited drawbacks with the platform, conceding that it is very challenging for Twitter to connect to other formats such as email or mobile phones.

Twitter last month introduced a new layout to users, which is focussed around the key areas of Home, Connect, Discover and Me.
