Cloud innovation centre announced in IrelandPublished Date: 13:25:28 15/02/2012
EMC is to develop a new cloud innovation centre in Ireland, enabling small and medium-sized enterprises to test and showcase their technologies in a unique environment.
The Cloud4Gov facility will be built with support from Cisco VMware, VCE and IDA Ireland. The initiative will be provided across two world-class private cloud infrastructures, with one in EMC and the other being hosted on government networks.
Cloud computing has been advocated by Software Quality Systems, with Phil Codd from the organisation noting that, while the technology can provide many advantages to businesses, it is important that firms work harder to ensure their software is safe.
Jason Ward, EMC country manager, said: "It will be a unique environment, promoting collaboration between multinational corporations, indigenous Irish ICT companies and the public sector."
Mr Ward described Cloud4Gov as a platform to promote Ireland as a leader in innovation that is devoted to driving the smart economy.
