Public sector staff want to use cloud computing, study showsPublished Date: 13:22:28 16/02/2012
The UK's public sector employees have backed cloud computing technology, figures show.
More than 60 per cent of the workers want to see their day-to-day software transferred to the cloud, while 27 per cent of firms are looking to the technology to boost their operations in 2012, according to research by Virgin Media Business.
Tony Grace, chief operating officer of Virgin Media Business, said: "This year will see the cloud take off. The government is ramping up activity and we’re working with them on the G-cloud initiative."
However, the study found that companies still have concerns regarding cloud computing, with 28 per cent admitting that they are worried about its security.
This year is set to see new cloud computing developments, with John Dunn from Techworld suggesting that private clouds are relatively simple, conventional and allow people to adopt virtualisation technology for themselves.
Mr Dunn explained that the cloud is trying to create a more neutral space for users.
